Reportage about the flooding in Maastricht of January 1926, and the visit of several dignitaries to the disaster area. As a result of relentless rainwater, the banks along the Meuse river put Limburg under water on 31 December, 1925. The river water flows at high speed through the villages of Heugem and Gonsveld. The Commissioner of the Queen, Baron Van Hövell tot Westerflier, the mayor of Maastricht Mr. L.B.J.v. Oppen, and the provincial superintendent of water management all visit the disaster. They view the disaster area from Mount St. Pieter, and then proceed through the village of Heugem by rowing boat. Houses are flooded up to their windows. Residents look on from their windows, seemingly unfazed.
