Prime Minister Joop den Uyl has made a visit to the Netherlands Antilles. He spoke to members of the Council of Ministers of the Netherlands Antilles and visited several islands. The economic situation in the Antilles is bad, which can be seen in the rise in prices, increasing unemployment and a decrease in tourism. The dismissal of employees on strike of a Japanese fishing company in Sint-Maarten caused riots. During the riots the administrative office in Philipsburg was set on fire.
