Week number 51-13
Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
Old Easter habits are cherished in Twente. 00:00 DENEKAMP: - Children and some adults leave the Roman Catholic church in Denekamp; they're carrying bottles, jugs, buckets, and kettles of holy water outside; - a farmer's wife makes a circuit of her house, whilst blessing it: she makes the sign of the cross and walks, whilst sprinkling holy water, a.o. through the kitchen and the living room; the farmer does the same with the animals, on the yards, in the stables, on the fields; 01:12 OOTMARSUM: - "vlöggelen": the citizens march in a long line, hand in hand and singing religious songs, through the streets, houses, bars and farms; on a square the crowd gathers and the fathers lift small children thrice above their head.
