Opening of the Amstelstation and Muiderpoortstation at Amsterdam, which meant a great improvement of the railway traffic. SHOTS: -drawn map of the railroads in Amsterdam, which indicate the stations Central, Muiderpoort, Amstel and the dilapitated Weesperpoort station; -Weesperpoortstation (decorated on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Dutch Railways); - various railway crossings (among others the railway crossing to 't Gooi) at Amsterdam, which are deposed after the improvement of the railways; - ext. Muiderpoortstation; - platform Muiderpoortstation with a large number of passengers; - ext. Amstelstation; - hall (with murals) and platform Amstelstation, where the first train with dignitaries arrive, among others mayor W. de Vlugt and minister of Transport J.W. Albarda; - speeches by the president of the Dutch Railways, J. Goudriaan and Albarda in the hall of the Amstel station. Albarda speaks in his speech amoung others about the wish that the Netherlands will remain neutral and declares the station opened; - various shots of the public (op 00:19:37 vlnr: Goudriaan, A.A. van Rhijn, De Vlugt and Gottfried H. Crone (chairman Chamber of Commerce Amsterdam) and at 00:20:09 (left next to empty seat): A. baron Roëll, Commissioner at Noord Holland).
