A new passenger ship for the Rotterdam Lloyd is launched from the shipyard of the firm "De Schelde" in Vlissingen. The ship is named after a director of the Lloyd who was executed in the war and is christened by his widow. A large crowd watches on the wharf itself and at the houses in the surrounding area.
