Tenth commemoration in front of the Palace on Dam square of the allied invasion of France. Prime Minister dr. Willem Drees lights the national torch that has been attached to a float of the Amsterdam public works. The float with torch then leaves to Caen under police escort, where it comes together with torches from four other Western European capitals.
