One of the cells of the former "Polizeigefängnis" in Scheveningen (known by the nickname Oranje hotel) has been set up as a permanent commemoration site for the many Dutch people who awaited their execution by the Germans in this prison during the Second World War. The cell in question, cell 601, is consecrated with a simple ceremony by a surviving relative, mrs. Van Lijnden-van de Bosch. Afterwards the attending people walk past the cell. SHOTS: - ext. prison; in the courtyard a large crowd of people attends a commemorative ceremony; - mrs. Van Lijnden (with glasses) enters the prison and opens the cell door, accompanied by a second woman (with flowers) and followed by a man carrying a pillow with the key to the door of cell 601; - int. cell: words and prayers are carved in the walls along with tallied days, flowers and a book with the names and portraits of the dead; - procession; 01:31 Prime Minister L.J.M> Beel (second from the left).
