Overview of the situation on Walcheren five months after the end of World War II. The island has been flooded for a large part after the attack on the dikes by the British air force in October 1944. A boat trip through the flooded area shows the damage done. With a.o. militairy amphibious vehicles, "dukw's", the connections are maintained. Work is done to close the holes in the dikes. SHOTS: -tanks that have been shot to pieces; -Westkapelle (completely destroyed); -flooded lands and a street in a suburb of Middelburg; -amphibious vehicles on the Markt and in the streets of Middelburg; -horse and carriage in a flooded street; -the hole in the dike is closed by sinking down caissons filled with concrete, the terrain is raised with sand and the last remaining slot is closed.
