Commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem. SHOTS: - pan across the river landscape outside Arnhem with Rhine and Rijnbrug (Rhine bridge); - a memorial service takes place at the Airborne monument on the militairy honourary burial ground in Oosterbeek: flags fly half-mast; soldiers and former fighters stand to attention; priests and acolytes arrive in a procession and pray at the graves; school children lay flowers at the crosses; - a cortege marches, with flags and banners, through the streets of Arnhem; in the cortege are a.o. relatives of the fallen and former fighters; - the cortege gathers near the monument near the Rijnbrug; the flags fly half-mast there; soldiers stand to attention; at the monument flowers and wreaths are laid, a.o. by the Polish general St. Sosabowski.
