PSV and Ajax fight for the national championship in a direct match in the penultimate game round of the competition. At their own Philips Sportpark the Eindhoven team wins with 5-1 (half-time 2-1) and earn the first championship in the Eredivisie. With goals for PSV by Lambert Maassen (1-0), Gerard Hoenen (2-1), Pierre Kerkhoffs (3-1), reserve Wim Wolbers (5-2) and an own goal by Piet Ouderland from Ajax, who heads the ball in his own goal (4-2); enthusiastic PSV fans run onto the field and carry the players in triumph, a.o. goal keeper Gert Bals and captain Roel Wiersma.
